I was living 2 minutes walk from Brot Garten in Charlottenburg and only tried their baking goods once;
By its name, it is clear that they specialize in bread, but the pastries at the window were, for me, the perfect treat next to a cup of coffee of an early, sunny, end of winter, April morning.

This pastry is filled with, well, joy. Or in food terms, poppy seed and almond cream, and covered with wonderful streusel. The outer layers are crispy, all the layers are flakey, in the center everything is softer. The streusel gives crunchiness and sweetness, while the filling is wonderfully balanced with a hint of acidity and saltiness. Flavors are mild but felt, and very well-made.
